  FAQs

  1. How close is the closest beach?
The nearest beach is 20 minutes and is the black sand beach at Punaluu and Whittington Beach State Park is 18 minutes.

  2. What type of amenities are on site?
We do have snorkel gear and boogie board to lend out, but our real amenities are the Island itself. Our goal is for you to explore and sight see and we know all the good stuff.

  3. Why did you choose this location?
We're in the middle of most of the popular sights to see, so you can see more of them and not waste so much driving time.

  4. How close are you to Green Sand Beach?
As the crow flies 15 miles, however once you get to South Point it's 4 wheel drive from there; serious 4WD. We do have a 4WD vehicle and we can take you there.

  5. Do you need to rent a 4WD?
90% of the beaches are accessible without 4WD, but some cool ones are 4WD only.

  6. Why did you choose yurts?
If you've never stayed in a yurt, you should. It's a extremely cozy, comfortable, and spacious building and not as expensive to build. Therefore we can charge way less than at hotel. After all there's only 2 reasons to stay in your room all day: you're sick or on your honeymoon.

  7. How close are your yurts to each other?
Each yurt is a separate unit and are at least 20' apart. Very private and quite.

  8. How close is shopping and restaurants?
Downhill 2.5 miles is the town of Ocean View. There are 3 restaurants, 1 bar, 3 gas stations, pizza parlor, hardware store, 2 markets, 1 convenience store, gift shop, bakery, and Laundromat.

  9. Do you have laundry facilities?
    Yes.

  10. Do I need to bring warm clothes?
A light jacket or sweater. We are at 2500' elevation. Not cold. 58-64 at night and mid 70's during day.

  11. When you say cozy what do you mean?
Cozy in my definition goes something like this. After a fun day of sight seeing and exploring or jus verging on the beach, or snorkeling and surfing, when you get back to your lodging you want to spread out, take a hot shower, relax, listen to music, watch TV or movie and enjoy some down time. All of our yurts provide this. They are private yet you can see forever from your deck.
